How to Use the Remove Duplicate Lines Tool

Last Updated: October 12, 2025

1. Accessing the Remove Duplicate Lines Tool

Visit the Nova Tools homepage and locate the "Remove Duplicate Lines" tool card in the Tools section. The card displays a clone icon and the description "Paste your text to remove duplicate lines, sentences, or words instantly." Click the card to open the Remove Duplicate Lines modal.

2. Opening the Remove Duplicates Modal

Clicking the tool card opens a modal titled "Free Remove Duplicate Lines Tool". The modal includes a textarea for text input, a hint ("Select mode and click Remove Duplicates to clean your text"), a dropdown to select the mode (Lines, Sentences, or Words), and buttons for removing duplicates and clearing text. Close the modal by clicking the "×" button or outside the modal.

3. Entering Text

Type or paste your text into the textarea, which displays a placeholder: "Paste your text here to remove duplicates...". The textarea supports vertical resizing. You can paste text from any source, such as a document or website, to remove duplicates.

4. Selecting a Mode

Choose a mode from the dropdown menu: Lines (removes duplicate lines), Sentences (removes duplicate sentences), or Words (removes duplicate words). The tool compares text case-insensitively but preserves original casing and formatting.

5. Removing Duplicates

Click the "Remove Duplicates" button, which features a magic wand icon, to process the text based on the selected mode. The textarea updates instantly with duplicates removed. For example, in Lines mode, "hello\nhello" becomes "hello"; in Words mode, "hello hello world" becomes "hello world". Copy the cleaned text as needed. If the input is empty or only whitespace, the textarea will be cleared.

6. Clearing the Text

Click the "Clear Text" button, which features a trash icon, to reset the textarea. This is useful when you want to start with new text. Closing the modal also clears the text automatically.
